Let us return to Peter's remark. He was trying to refer us undoubtedly to COL 2:16 where Paul gave a ruling on sabbat, holidays and new moons which, according to him, is the shadow of future things. We understand perfectly the intervention of Paul, indeed he did clarify his language if we refer to HEB 10 "For the law, having a shadow of the good to come, not the very image of the things, can never with the same sacrifices year by year, which they offer continually, make perfect those who draw near. "
Convinced that the sacrifice of the Son of God by his death did change the modalities of Leviticus prescriptions without cancelling them, Paul believed he had to sound the alarm.
