| | 1 In the month of Kisleu, the twentieth year, as I was in Susa, in the capital, 2 Hanani, one of my brothers, and some men arrived of Judah. I asked them about the Escaped Jews who had remained captivity, and about Jerusalem. 3 They answered me: Those who are who remained from captivity are there in the province, at the height of misfortune and reproach; the walls of Jerusalem are in ruins, and its gates are consumed by fire . 4and I say: O Lord, God of heaven, God great and formidable, you who keep your covenant and have mercy on those who love you and who observe your commandments , 5and I say: O Lord God of heaven, God great and formidable, you who keep your covenant and have mercy on those who love you and who observe your commandments! 6 Let your ear be attentive and may your eyes be open: listen to the prayer that your servant is addressing you now, day and night, for your servants the children of Israel, by confessing the sins of the children of Israel, our sins against you; because me and my house father, we have sinned. 7 We have offended you, and we have not kept the commandments, the laws and the prescriptions that you prescribed to Moses your servant. 8 Remember this word that you commanded Moses your servant, to pronounce. When you sin, I will scatter you among the peoples; 9 but if you come back to me, and if you keep my commandments and put them into practice, then when you are exiled to the end of heaven, from there I will will gather and bring you back to the place that I chose to reside there my name. |
